AVAITION TECHNOLOGY ---     RTCA/DO-254 AVIATION HARDWARE DEVELOPMENT

RTCA/DO-254, DESIGN ASSURANCE GUIDANCE FOR AIRBORNE ELECTRONIC HARDWARE is a document providing guidance for the development of airborne electronic hardware, published by RTCA, Incorporated.
Design Assurance Guidance for Airborne Electronic Hardware is a civil aviation guidance for the development and certification and controlling of programmable logic devices (PLDs).

RTCA DO-254 has been given the status of a "de-facto" standard by the FAA as a result of Advisory Circular 20-152, in relation to the certification (and hence development) of programmable logic devices such as FPGAs (Field Programmable Gate Arrays), CPLDs (Complex Programmable Logic Devices) and ASICs (Application Specific Integrated Circuits).
